Tips On Keyword Research and Search Engine Optimisation

What is keyword research?

In simple term, it is finding the Actual term people enter in search  engine when they are looking for information or buy products/services  online. If you are targeting the wrong keyword you will GET BURIED IN  THE SEARCH ENGINES.

Since web presence have been established for a  while, most simple keyword is difficult to target. You cannot compete  with a fifteen year old blog. Also the people who enter different term  into the search know what they need in mind.

There are three different groups of people that search online..
1. This group is looking for information. For  example a guy goes online and type  ‘’what is HTC phones’’

2. The group knows about htc phones already but need more information  so he types ‘’HTC wildfire with windows 7 and spec’’ or ‘’HTC  chacha   spec and review’’.

3. The last group have done their research and  have probably made up their mind to buy so he types ‘’ HTC A510e  Wildfire S Black PG76110 Unlocked Phone’’.

This where long tail  keyword comes in. Long tail keywords are those that usually get low  traffic and less competition than broader term. They are usually between  3-4 words

An example of broad keyword is ‘’Dog training’’ with 13,300,000(exact term in google).

A long tailed keyword will be ‘’ ''Alaskan huskies potty training'' with 392,000(exact term in google)

Which one do you think is easier to target. The second one of course.  Your cut-off should be 100,000 or below for a given phrase.

This is  where the Google's AdWords Keyword Tool comes in handy even though it is  not accurate it is still the most popular used for keyword search. For  starters, you can add these ones

1. http://www.wordstream.com/wordstream-for-seo

2. Clues.yahoo.com

3. Google trend

4. Google insight

5. Google search based keyword tool.

Another way to know if a keyword is less competitive is to check the  page rank of your first 10 competitors. For example let’s check the page  rank for the phrase ‘‘Alaskan huskies potty training''

1. Artcilebase.com pr6

2. http://www.alaskan-husky-behavior.com/ pr2

3. http://www.trainpetdog.com/ pr4

4. http://www.trainpetdog.com/ pr4

5. http://www.allabouthuskies.com/ pr3

6. http://answers.yahoo.com/ pr7

7. http://www.rescueeverydog.org/ pr3

8. http://www.terrificpets.com/ pr4

9. http://www.for-the-dog-lover.com/ pr0

10. http://shibashake.com/ pr 4

That will be 37 in all. Divide whatever you get by ten. I got 3.7

Your target should be less than 4.but for starters stay within the  range of 2.5-3 unless you have the financial muscle for adverts don’t go  higher.

I also recommend a free tool spyfu.com. Enter a  keyword phrase and it returns cost/click data, number of google adwords  advertisers, and estimated number of clicks daily for that keyword and  many more.

Get ten long tail keywords and write articles around  them. This means your target keyword should be in your title tags H1/H2  tags, Meta keyword and description tag. Beware of keyword stuffing

Make sure your content is unique. Don’t use plr articles for your article to flow and look natural.

Search for more articles about seo on google.com
