How To Optimise For Long Tail Keywords

The success of any website, no matter if you are making money from Adsense, affiliate offers, e-books or anything in between depends mostly on one thing. Traffic. It is easy understand, but not always easy to achieve. Not just any type of traffic will do, you want targeted traffic. You could get 1 million viewers a month, but if they are not looking for what you are offering, you won’t make any money. It would be better to have 100-targeted viewers than 1,000,000 random viewers.

Instead of just hoping and praying for targeted traffic, why not create your content around specific keyword phrases that you know your potential clients are looking for. In this specific strategy, we are going to use long tail keywords to build content around your these specific keyword phrases and get to the top of Google after building only 50 backlinks or less.

Lets get started with the basics… What is A Long Tail Keyword? A long tail keyword is a keyword build up from 3 or more words, for example: Short Tail / Main Keyword – Stop Smoking Long Tail Keyword 1 – Stop Smoking Naturally Long Tail Keyword 2 - How To Stop Smoking in 7 days

How Do I Use The Long Tail Keyword Strategy?

Long tail keywords are phrases that are usually low in SEO competition. Thus it is very easy for you to rank on page 1. While these keyword phrases are low traffic words (maybe 100 visitors month), when you implement this strategy with a large list of long tail keywords, you can easily generate large volumes of targeted traffic.

How To Get Your Articles To Rank On Page 1
To use this strategy is quite simple. The basic idea is to target and optimize an article around a specific long tail keyword phrase. To do this, use the keyword phrase in the following places: The page title must contain the keyword The first paragraph must contain the keyword The middle paragraph must contain the keyword or a phrase match variant The last paragraph must contain the keyword or a phrase match variant And be sure to use the keyword phrase or a phrase match variant a few times naturally in each paragraph, and each paragraph should have 100 ~ 200 words. When you use this basic but very powerful outline for writing your article you are half way to getting ranked on page 1 of Google.

The other half of the equation is having quality backlinks to your article. An effective tool for building backlinks is Linkvana. This is a blog network of high PR blogs that you can use to easily build as many quality backlinks to your article as needed to rank highly. Why Target Long Tail Keywords Instead Of Short Tail Keywords?

Unless you have an the time, money and commitment it is much more cost and time effective to target long tail keywords. Most Internet users know that they need to type in 2, 3 or even 4 keywords to effectively find what they are searching for. Thus you won’t be losing traffic.

Quite the contrary actually, you will be gaining traffic because your article will target EXACTLY what they are searching for.
