7 Ways To Generate Traffic

There are many ways of generating targeted trafic to your blog. We are going to cover some of them here. So stay tuned.

 As with other things, generating targeted trafic to your blog is one  of the building blocks of success of your blog. Without a decent trafic  to your blog, your posts will never be seen by those you are targeting.

 If these people cannot see you blog, you cannot make money with your  blog . This is what we want to avoid here since the purpose of creating  our blog is to earn a decent amount of money from our blogs.

     THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAFIC TO BLOGS

 Traffic pulls reader, customers and subscribers alike to your blog  where they check out what you have for them on your blog. If you send  people that need the information on your blog to your blogs homepage,  you can earn their trust with what you have there and they will become  subscribers

   When they become subscribers and loyal readers, you stand a better  chance of making more money through them as they will help you monetize  your blog through buying and contributing to it.

    NOTE:  Targeted trafic is not to be confuced with ordinary trafic  as they are two different things. Whenever I mention trafic alone here, I  really mean targeted trafic.

  Targeted trafic is the only means with which you can earn a decent income from your blog.

  If your blog or website lacks traffic you will never be able to earn from your blog.

   But if you drive traffic or have a decent trafic on your blog, you  will be able to make more money on you blog depending on the traffic  level

   For this post, we will focus on 7 ways to generate trafic to your blog.

   There are different ways of buiding targeted trafic to your blog.

   We will cover 7 of them here:

1. Advertising with google adwords
2. Advertising on third party websites
3. Search engines organic trafic
4. Guest posting
5. Forum posting
6. Words of mouth.
7. Social media

      There are many other ways of driving trafic to your blog, we will only cover those mentioned above.

  So let's get in to the juicy part.

    ADVERTISING WITH GOOGLE ADWORDS

 If you want to drive traffic to your blog the paid way, you may  consider google adwords. It enables you to advertise your blog on google  search engine results page ( SERPS ).

 Google adwords is an advertising medium where you pay google for the clickthroughs to your blog.

  You register with google adwords and you determine the criteria with which you want google to follow.

    When you register with google adwords, google will give you options  like how much you want to pay, determine if you have any restriction  for your site placement, where you site is placed, how much you want to  pay for each click-through rate, what keywords you want to specify and  what search query will prompt your site to be displayed on google  results page.

 Once all that has been determined, google will start placing your site  on the results page based on the keywords you specify. Your blog will  also be placed on relevant sites that match your niche just like it is  done in adsense.

 If your site link is then clicked from the advertisement, you pay google. That is how it works.

 This is achieved when you partner with google to place your blog on the results page. Remember this is paid advertising .

 While adwords can results in a lot of clickthrough to your site and explode your traffic level, it can also be a money waster.

  If you don't target the right keywords as with any other process of  niche markting. You pay google without reaping the benefits.

   Also of note is that if you don't specify the right keywords for  your advertising, it will result in high bounce rate for your site and  there by risking your search enginre placement.

 If you want to go with adwords, there are steps you can take to make sure your site don't get punish and your money wasted:

 • Make sure you research your keywords extensively, it should rhyme with the theme of your website.

  You can read the keyword research tutorial at the begining of this  project . Once you get your    keywords right, don't  spend too much money advertising on google.
   Let the money be at the bearest minimum so that you can increase your ROI

 • Don't with adwords if it doesn't work for you. If you are advertising  on google adwords programme, make sure you are  getting a reasonable  ROI to invest in other projects too.

 • Read as many giuide as you can on google adwords. There are  many  tutorials available on                                   the internet  that you can read to make sure you make maximum use of adwords for your  traffic generation

 Note: I have not used google adwords so I don't have indepth guide on  how to be successfull with it! But if you follow the above guide and  others your will find on the net, you should do well with google adwords


Advertising on third party websites

 You can do this either offline or online, depends on your choice and  criteria. Facebook is a good place to advertise your blog provided you  are willing or know the ropes of the trade.

 Ask jide problogger, jide ogunsanya, don caprio, peter emu, they will tell you how they are doing  with this one.

 Quick notice: this is paid not free advertising!!!. Okay!

   If you have the money, you can go with this. Because it will explode your sites traffic if done properly.

 Tip you can create a facebook page for your website on facebook , link  it with facebook advert placement and increase your backlinks to your  site.

  I don't have much info on this but if you do it properly, it should  increase your blogs traffic and backlinks.

  Another approach is to look for websites that accept advertising with  minimal pay to advertise your site on them. Make sure they relate to  your niche as it is also considered a vote for your site from the site.

   If you know there are people offline that may be interested in what  you blog about, you can place your advert in offline newspaper and  magazine as well. This will increase your site's traffic potential.


Search engine organic traffic

 If you want organic traffic to your site, you have a lot of work to  do. You may have noticed that probloggers sometimes prefer organic  traffic to their newly established site.

   This  is because they have learnt, implemented and knows the rope   of the trade.. Not only are they equipped with the necessary materials  but they also have network of promoters and affiliates who will be glad  to promote their sites for  free.

 What I'm trying to say here is that they can get to the first page of  google results page in a short period of time without spending a dime.

  But for a beginner, this can only be achieved over long period of time and over a long drawn period of activity.

  If you want to achieve this, you have to focus your effort on  generating traffic through accepted means like backlinking, guest  posting, useful comments on other blogs, useful post in forums, etc.

 For you to get to the first page of google results, you need decent  amount of backlinks to your site, off-page and on-page optimisation.,  inbound linking and out bound linking and be able to generate link from  other sites to your blog.

 You should consider registering with goarticles and ezinearticles.

   Once you have register with them, start writing articles that relate to your site.

   From the space give to you, ( author resource box ) you will have a  chance to link to your site, you will increase your site's traffic in  two ways with this:

   First of all, If you write good articles articles and your readers  like it, they will click to your site to read more thereby increasing  your traffic.

    Secondly, your author box will be pointing to your site, this will  give you more link juice thereby increasing  your site ranking.

   You know what that means right?!!!, okay.

   You can and should now  go out and register in forums for backlinks.  I recommend that you register with 5 relevant forums in your niche so  that your work will nor be too clunky or overwhelming.

    Once you register, start looking for questions you can answer. When  you locate them, answer the questions fully so that the questioner will  be happy and will want to read more about what you have to say.

    You can then link to your site and encourage the questioner to read more from your site.

     Do overdo this though. It is considered spam if you are always  linking to your site in this way. You don't want to give the community  the impression that you are only answering questions to promote your  site. Shikena!!! * wink *

 Tips: make sure you create a signature in the forum for your profile and link to your site from there.

  With this, you will get a backlink to your site whenever you post or engage in discussions.

 Another way of inceasing your search engine rank is doing off-page and on page seo on your site.

  Include relevant keywords in your articles and in the right density.  Too much of keyword phrases in your site's copy will invite google  penalty.

   Make sure you run farther even farthest from google penalty because  it is so bad it could ruin you site smoothness. Shhh!!! Sorry for my  oyinbooo! Lol

  Another way to increase search engine ranking is guest blogging. Make  sure you submit useful and interesting content so that you can increase  your subscribers base and get more link juice for your site ranking.

Forum posting

     I have mentioned this in the body before. I just want to expand on it here.

    Register in forums that are in your niche. Create a user bio and signature that link back to your site.

   Always try as much as possible to give to the community in the form  of answers to questions, helping members and familiarising with other  users.

 Tips: when you create your signature, make sure you create something  compelling so that users will want to click to your sit when they see  your signature.

  You should try posting everyday if you have the time and make sure to   post answers regularly, when you do this, your signature appear below  your post and automatically create  links to your site


   This also make other users like you to place you in the position of  an expert. This could help establish you as an authority in your field,  thereby increasing your blog readership and traffic.

   If you don't get this, then look at this group, the most popular  among us here, how are they known? Do they just come here and post links  to there site and say " hey look, I have a new post on my site. I want  you to go read it now. " Nope. ( Though, this can make them popular as a  group spammer here, l o l !!! But not in a good way, anyways. )

  Rather, they are known through posting useful stuff daily without  mentioning there site which naturally increase authority as a blogger,  with decent backlink and traffic to their respective sites.

  Guest posting

  This is also an expansion on what I have mentioned before

 If you know how to guest post, your site will see more  readers and  subscribers will increase. Just make sure when you are submitting your  best and well written post the author of the respective blog you want to  submit to.

  Word of mouth

 This can explode the traffic to your blog. Before you can achieve this you must work hard oooo. Have to stress that though.

 Word of mouth in niche marketing means that your readers are sharing  your post through their social network profile, telling their friends  about your post and your website. It happens both offline and online.

 For your to achieve this, you have to build credibility and trust with  your reader through what you offer on your site. Content, services,  give-aways etc.  If you can build your trust in              your readers mind, they will generally spread the word about your site  or blog.

   This will make your blog posts go viral and when it does, you are rest assured that your traffic will increase trust me.

   Social media

 If you want traffic for your blog, then you must consider social media.  If you can command attention on the social media world, then you stand a  chance of driving big sized targeted traffic to your blog.
