How To Create The Right Desire And Zeal For Blogging

I must say I am glad to see all of us through this foundational stage in blogging.
Because of the nature of the topic in discussion here, this stage shall be more theoretical and motivational order than technical. So if you are ready, sip your juice a little and give me your attention.

BASIC INTRODUCTION TO BLOGGING.

The term BLOG is a shortened form of WEBLOG which is defined as a website on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc on a regular basis.

We may also put the definition thus;
A blog is simply a website where it owners constantly post useful information relating to a particular niche so that visitors can easily get information about something.

The act of recording these opinions and information is what we term as BLOGGING

Going by the two definitions above, we may conclude that blogging is a personal choice (not necessarily for making money). Therefore, to succeed as a blogger entails self-motivation.

A common error made by new bloggers (I was a victim too) is starting a blog with money making as first priority.
This is obviously because they hear pro-bloggers talking about fat adsense checks. It is true that most pro-bloggers make good money from blogging but this cannot happen overnight.
To make any dime from blogging and the internet as a whole requires a strong desire to work very hard. Yes! I mean very hard.

SO HOW DO YOU GET YOURSELF PREPARED FOR THE CHALLENGES AHEAD?

Place Money Making As Your Last Priority.

This is very important if you want to succeed in blogging and eventually make money from blogging. Now, this sounds somewhat untrue because we may argue that life only offers you what you crave for so how can I make money from blogging if I kick it to the back? But as we may know, no house can stand without a solid foundation.

When I started blogging, my primary aim was to make money in the shortest possible time. This made me to apply for Google adsense three days after creating my blog. Well you guessed right, I was kicked out by Google. When this happened, I immediately contacted two of my foreign mentors (www.webdesign.about.com www.2createawebsite.com) who seriously laughed at me and both told me to reapply in six months time. God! I was angry then.
SO If you place money making as your top priority, sorry but you will end up in top frustration.

Create A Willing Heart To Blog.

Having a heart that truly wants to teach others for FREE is your sure path to success in blogging. Bloggers are teachers and not money makers. We however make money too (ok I know that was paradoxical).

If you are a type that easily get discouraged in the things you do please don’t join blogging because you may have heart attack *seriously*
So far, I can tell you that it was zeal that kept me in blogging and this is same with any successful blogger you find today.

I started blogging with a Nokia 3110c phone and had no knowledge about computer. All I knew was just how to browse with my phone. I was however not discouraged because I knew where I was going from there and today all that is history.

Be A Humble And An Addicted Learner.

Now this is also very important. As a blogger, learning is a must. If you must succeed. You should know that blogging can equal teaching so how can you teach what you don’t know?

This learning process entails both online and offline studies. www.google.com is a good place to start your research and studies.
All you do is type in anything you can imagine and an answer will be waiting for you, thanks to we bloggers who saturate the internet with information

There are many things you can learn from Google and the internet as a whole. Personally, I am an addicted fan of the internet and I can say it is paying off well. For instance, you have read earlier how I knew nothing about computers when I started blogging but I want to also mention that I never attended any computer school neither did I go for any classes on web development, I learnt everything on the internet and today I have written and sold many books on these subjects and have even graduated many students on these. You can do same because it’s easy.

Believe In Yourself.

The fear of failure has killed the zeal many had for blogging. This is not good news at all.
If you want to actually succeed in anything in life, you just need to “know” that you will succeed in it. One way of achieving this is doing everything with boldness even when you are making errors.
Personally, I don’t feel inferior in anything I do even when I know nothing about that thing, I only pick challenges and strive towards perfection.
So if you are a new member in this group, never you let yourself feel inferior or be intimidated by anyone. The truth is no one of us here is more than anyone; it’s just a matter of time.

Move With Like-Minded People

Joining groups like this one is a very good step. You can never notice your success or failures until you begin to see what others are doing.
Personally, this group has challenged me in many aspects which I can’t start mentioning now. Also, I improved in programming when I started visiting the programming section of www.nairaland.com and so on. So join similar groups to bloggers lab and become an active member.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD BLOGGER.

Before I round up, here are qualities you need to have as a blogger. If you don’t have these qualities, there are two options you need to choose from.
The first is to work towards having these qualities and the second is to jet out of blogging if you just can’t cope. Yeah I mean use a jet to fly out of blogging to avoid frustration. Lol.
So here are the qualities.

  1. Love for learning new things.
  2. Love for teaching people without expecting rewards.
  3. Be committed and steadfast.
  4. Good writing techniques.
  5. Good grammar.
  6. Be sociable.
  7. Be humble.
  8. Love being corrected.
  9. Move with modem tends.
10. Pick relevant challenges.

I want to summarize this stage by quoting a post written by one of the new members in this group named Kingsley Davies Cassie  The more frustrated I become in blogging, the more my love for it increase because I know I am going somewhere and I will make it…”

Let me thank everyone that has contributed towards making this project a success and also urge us all to stay glued to this project as other tutors shall be taking us through the other stages.
Remember, the major aim of this stage is to water the ground for other tutors to plant seeds. So before we go into the main blogging topics, feel free to ask any question you may have. If also you want me to provide additional information on anything here, that is also welcomed.
