10 Tips On Making Research and Discoveries

Have you being wondering why some bloggers are doing great and you or someone else is not?
You may be tempted to say or believe that they have so much ideas, skills, well-trained, lucky or they are technically sound. No! Not at all!!

These people are not lucky or they became successful by chance, they merit it because they have worked tirelessly on their niche/business and therefore, deserved to be successful.
Although it seems a daunting task, research and discovery should be a task that you should devote time and resources because it will determine if you are going to be successful or not and it is not as difficult as you think.

SO WHAT IS RESEARCH?
Research is all about planning or laying foundation for your blog/business and whoever fails to plan, is planning to fail.  Everything in life requires planning, so is your blog. When you want to get to somewhere, you will say to yourself that, how do I get there, how much money to go with that will cover my journey, what mode of transportation….?

Because you have asked yourself those simply questions: how to get there… and you discovered that going by a bike is faster, going with N5,000 will cover all my cost, you will also discover that that journey or assignment will be very easy to accomplish.
This simple explanation applies to blogging also. In fact, if you will ever make it as a blogger, researches and discoveries will determine.

Therefore, research and discovery is an effective way of creating a powerful blog that you will never lack ideas of what to do, what content to add, how to generate traffic among other things?

At this point, let me dive into my own story. When I first started my first blog (http://www.NaijaJobsLink.com) in 2008, I did not spend much time or no time at all to research. I focused so much on money I will be making, posted rubbish just because I understood the importance of contents. That was why it took me more than a year to make $108 after spending more than $500 going to cyber cafes and other things.

At a point, I was frustrated and abandoned blogging and faced my misery labourer work. My turning point came when I read Steve Pavlina article about blogging. He said you should forget about money first, take time to research on your ideas, see how you can make your writings a last bus stop for whoever is reading them, add values to your readers, build reputation…… and money will keep flowing.

The questions that most newbies ask are: how to research? What to research? Where to research and so on and on?

SO WHAT TO RESEARCH?
Good you asked that question!
There are so many things to research on when starting a blog. You have to research on the:
1)      Domain name
2)      hosting
3)      Keywords
4)      Niches
5)      Contents
6)      Traffic
7)      Search Engine Optimization SEO
8)      Social media
9)      Blogging platform – free blog (e.g Blogger.com) or self-hosted blog (e.g wordpress.org)
10)   List building and a whole lot of them.

I know almost all of what I mentioned above has been thoroughly explained by various volunteers, so I won’t spend much time explaining them except the most important ones like contents, traffic, SEO...

RESEARCHING ON YOUR DOMAIN NAME AND HOSTING
Choosing the right domain name for your blog and hosting is very important for your success. Sometimes, you might want to build a blog and you are short of name to give to your blog, the best way to choose a domain name is to research on your niche and keywords, discover whether it has a high traffic (that is people are looking for it) and understand if it high paying keywords. Write down your keywords and choose your domain from the keywords. Choosing from your keywords is very important for your search engine ranking.

Your domain should not be more than three keywords and it should be easy to memorize.
Choosing the right hosting for your blog is also very important because you will not like a server that goes off intermittently. This will affect your site, your search ranking as crawlers won’t be able to access your blog. So an effective research will lead to awesome discoveries.

RESEARCHING ON YOUR KEYWORD AND NICHE:
If you are going to setup a blog to make money from Google Adsense or other contextual ads, keywords and niche play pivotal roles. Not all niches you should blog on. Some niches are high paying, but very competitive.

My failure to research on my keyword led me to earn so small and I was always unhappy. I got so many clicks, but the earning was just too small. I will have at least 50 clicks, earning per click EPS of 0.09 = 50x0.09 = €4.5. €4.5 for 50clicks is rubbish considering the time and resources I spent.

Before you can see that 50clicks, you should be getting 1000 visits. Have it in mind that less than 10% of your visitors a day will click on your ads. This varies, sometimes; you can get above 10% which is normal. But what is not normal is, if more than 10% of your visitors a day clicks on your ads on continuously for sometime, you should know that your adsense account is in danger and you should investigate your traffic immediately.

My earnings improved when I saw that so many people were looking for Post-UTME info, admission info and I decided to add a sub-domain to my blog and posted on education stuffs. I was taken aback when I saw clicks from channel added to that education sub-domain earning €1 - €13 per click.

The following year when Post-UTME and admission stuffs started again, my earning skyrocketed from between €250 - €300 per month to €850. I got so many visits then because my site was always on top, but now, panda has changed the way we blog which has affected my traffic by over 50% – this is because I failed to research when I heard about Panda.

I decided to research using Google Keyword Tool and I discovered that job vacancy and career keywords worth between $0.20 to $1.9 per click, while education keywords was between $3 to $22 click. I also discovered that technology, server, web design/development, insurance, mortgage, grant, loan where paying very high up to $100/click.

I blamed myself for not researching and discover the right keywords to blog on. It is always very important to research on your keywords.

RESEARCHING ON YOUR CONTENTS:
Some people say content is king when it comes to blogging, while others say traffic is the king.
I will ask you this question, which one do you think is the KING – contents or traffic?

No doubt, contents and traffics are chiefs when it comes to blogging. If you are going to be successful, unique and quality contents are surely the key as well as quality traffic from reliable sources. It is even better to focus more attention on creating quality content, before embarking on setting up your blog so as not to be short of contents or ideas.

Now that you have understood that quality contents are the key to your success, how do you now ensure continued flow of contents? That is where you have to devote time and research. Getting idea for your contents is very easy and I will explain more when I get to the HOW TO AND WHERE
TO RESEARCH SECTION.

Your contents should be the last bus stop for your readers. Make sure when they get to your blog, your articles should solve their problem so that they will not have to go elsewhere. Unique and quality contents will make your readers to come back, bookmark and also subscribe to your blog.
Use your writings to build a good relationship because people only deal with people they believe can deliver.

RESEARCHING ON YOUR TRAFFIC:
Did you know that traffic is like blood running through your vain? And once blood is not flowing through your vain, you are a dead person.

Therefore, traffic is blood that keeps your blog alive! Without traffics, you are just wasting your time, and it won’t take long before you call it quit.
It is of utmost important to research on how to get quality traffic because not all traffics are suitable for your blog. Some traffics can put you in trouble! You need to study where they are coming from, landing pages among others.

RESEARCHING ON SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION:
If you want to rank well in search engine, you really have to research and map out the best way to research and optimize your pages for high ranking. Since most of the traffics will be from search engine, it is crucial to learn how to optimize your pages to rank top and beat your competitors.

SEO is a big industry and keep growing and expanding because companies now understand the importance of search engine traffics as it is much targeted and convert more.
There are a lot of ways to optimize which should be one of your research tasks.

HOW TO RESEARCH AND WHERE TO RESEARCH?
DOMAIN NAME AND HOSTING:
Choosing the right domain name can be a daunting task. I understand how difficult to choose the right domain because as a web design and a blogger, most of my clients end up choosing wrong domain or domain that has been taken. When this happens, am now saddle with the responsibility of choosing the right domain for them.

So how do you research and choose the right domain for your site?
I use this website http://www.stuckdomains.com/ to choose from expired domain because it helps with ranking.
I Research on their keywords analyze and choose from there.
As for webhosting, you can use review site or forum to research to know if such hosting company worth putting your site on their server. You should also make Google your friend and use it often and often.

KEYWORD AND NICHE:
Before I blog on any niche now, I will first of all check using the available tools to determine if the niche and keywords worth dying for. Since your niche determine if you are going to make it big, there are needs to research if people are looking for such information, volume of traffic and many more, it of utmost important to research on it first before diving into it.

The following tools will help you to do a good research.
Google trends: www.google.com/trends/
Google search engine: google.com

It will help you determine if the niche and keywords are profitable or not.

For example, research conducted on JOB VACANCY and web design and choosing Nigeria and USA as the country using Google Keyword Tool shows the following results:

Country: Nigeria
Keyword: job vacancy, Competition: High, Global Monthly Searches: 1,830,000, Local Monthly Searches: 40,500, Approximate CPC: $0.21

Conducting the same search and choosing USA or Canada:
Keyword: job vacancy, Competition: High, Global Monthly Searches: 1,830,000, Local Monthly Searches: 49,500, Approximate CPC: $1.09
Let’s choose another keyword and do the same research for both Nigeria and USA

Country: Nigeria
Keyword: web design, Competition: High, Global Monthly Searches: 7,480,000, Local Monthly Searches: 14,800, Approximate CPC: $0.66

Country: USA
Keyword: web design, Competition: High, Global Monthly Searches: 7,480,000, Local Monthly Searches: 2,240,000, Approximate CPC: $7.00

Comparing the results above for USA and Nigeria, you will agreed with me that targeting US traffic is far better than Nigeria, and also blogging on web design is far better than job vacancy. That is the essence of research which lead to a lot discoveries.

CONTENTS
The best way to research for your content and discover quality ideas is to ask questions using http://answers.yahoo.com/. With Yahoo Answers, you will get lots of contents and ideas for your articles. You ask question and people answer you.

Google and other search engine: Google is pivotal to your blogging success. You can get a lot of fresh idea by search for your keywords, take top articles that show up and read and understand, then write your own.

WebAmswer.com: I use web Answers a lot. If I want to write post on maybe Antivirus, I will just ask question there and answers will keep dripping in. You also earn money directly into your adsense account by answering questions.
Article Directories and Others: Using article directories especial ww.ezinearticle.com will help you a lot.

TRAFFIC AND SEO
Did you know that the traffic is at the top?
According to some researches and studies, almost 90% of web searchers never make it to the second page of the results.

Do you know what that means for your site? Quite Simple! If you’re not ranked high on the search engines, you’re missing out on the majority of the traffic.
So researching on your traffic sources that work is vital.
So beating your competitors to the game of SEO should be your optimum priority. That is why you have to do a lot of research on that.

BLOG PLATFORM:
There are lots of blogging platform, but the most popular ones are Blogger.com or Wordpress.org?
I will not dive much into this because it has been covered already.
Your being effective will largely be determined by the blogging platform you chose. As for me, Wordpress.org is the best. Using self-hosted blog makes you look professional, you can customize your site to suit your needs among others, and you will never going to be banned like free blog. It is always better to research to know the right platform for you and also taking cost into consideration.

How To Write Unique Contents That Attracts Visitors

I'm about to show you a copy-writing techniques and concept which do work on the web, and will fully explain why! I'll reveal a method of writing your web for your specific product, aimed at your specific customers.
No matter what you read on the internet, writing unique/persuasive articles cannot be learned in a few minutes. There Is No Magic Pill to help you produce professional copy at the drop of a hat.

"Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind--Rudyard Kipling"
Did you ever see a headline that absolutely demands attention? A headline that shouts "Hey! Look, this is for you"? Or even one that quietly seduces you with an irresistible promise?
And have you ever read a "How-To" article on writing unique posts and thought "yeah that makes sense, now I know how to do it!"
Have you also suffered the frustrating reality of not being able to write the same kind of unique post with your own ideas?
And have you ever tried writing an article using similar words and phrases you've read in someone else blog? Only to suffer the pain and disappointment of watching post not being read?
How many times have you shook your head in despair desperately wondering what to try next? Agonizing, isn't it? In fact, it's enough to make it.

Well enough of the many questions, lets proceed to the main part of this DOC.

FACTS ABOUT WRITING A UNIQUE ARTICLE.
1.            THINK LIKE YOUR READERS:
Please consider this carefully. It’s the key to all successful articles. BAR NONE!
When you saw that eye catching headline, which you thought would be ideal for your post title? The use of those particular words and phrase may have seemed obvious to you...
But didn't know the thinking behind them. You didn't realize it became successful because it appealed to a specific reader in a specific targeted niche.
And the answer to writing a blog post that will motivate your readers into subscribing to your feeds and  probably buying from you is that you have to understand her [your visitor] mindset.
To achieve that, you will have to learn how to....

2.            DANCE WITH YOUR VISITOR[S]:
"Sorry....did you say dance"?
Yes! You see, writing an attractive post is pretty much like learning to dance with a new partner. You know the right steps because you probably picked them up from someone else and managed to...well...get around.
But to create a partnership that's beneficial to both of you,
You have to discover what she wants from you. And to do that, you have to figure out how she [remember we are referring to the visitors/readers as "she"] thinks.
Until you understand how your visitors think, you keep making mistakes and stepping on toes.
But once you learn what makes her tick, it's a whole different ballroom game. At that point, you know which moves to make to suit her specific needs. And you can anticipate exactly what she wants you to do [including words to use in your posts] so you both move...in perfect harmony.

NOTE: Please note that the best person to write your blog posts [except guess posting] is you....Hands down! You, the blog owner is the most ideal person to write articles for your own headline/title ideas.

3.            GET TO KNOW YOUR COMPETITIORS:
Want to stay ahead of your competitors? Then Keep a Keen Eye on Them
The internet is such a fast moving creature that new ideas innovations are being thrust upon us at a regular basis...
  •  Subscribe to their e-zine and get a "feel" of their ideas. Read between the lines
  • Study their articles and see benefits they're concentrating on. Are they the same as yours? Are they different from yours? Are they better than yours?
Only by knowing your competitors, can you strive to offer greater benefits and write more attractive posts.
becoming an "expert" on your competitors puts you in s better place to outsell them.

4.            EXPERIENCE YOUR READER'S MINDSET:
Giving your reader everything she wants is a whole lot easier if you already know what she wants. And how do you do that?
Well, you've probably been advised on many occasions that you should put yourself in her shoes. Personally, I find it rather uncomfortable squeezing unto high heels.
So here is a more practical and extremely more effective way of doing it. In fact, it's the only way to really find out what she really wants....
                Get Inside Her Mind....
Imagine how she's feeling as she visits you website. What is she looking for? Why is she there in the first place? Think like her.
Put yourself in her situation, and imagine her reaction to each element of your blog post. What's going through her mind when she reads your headline? What is she searching for?
You know what she needs, but what does she want?
And most important of all...can provide it?
[Like I said earlier....Become Your Reader]

Building A Blog's Traffic

Ok Here we go bloggers!

The primary aim of every blogger is to make money and to get good  traffic. Without good traffic, you can't make money via blogging!

There are different ways in which you can get traffic to your blog.

Now, before getting traffic, you need audience. Your first audience  will come from social networks and link sharing sites provided you share  your links.

Lets Start from Facebook- Before you can trust your  traffic from facebook, you need to have quite a number of friends (At  least from 1 thousand and above) and be very interactive with them so  they can view any of your shared links even if they're not interested.  Interaction with your facebook friends play a good role in getting  audience to your links and blog. You can start by posting funny status  updates, attractive statuses or offering them something priceless for  free.

Also, give your blogposts a very sugarcoated title so that it  can attract even busy facebookers...  Facebook is a very good source for  getting new audience if you get the tactics i stated above wella.

Twitter- You may not create a new twitter acct for your blog as you can  use a personal acct for sharing your links. Infact, i prefer personal  accts so you can get friendly visitors that can address you by name and  interact with you. This way, you're getting real and friendly audience.  If you don't have followers, you can use some twitter systems like  easyretweet.com or twiends.com. Also cultivate the habit of replying  trending topics frequently so people can notice you and might follow you  if they find your replies intersting. Don't be Stingy! Follow as many  people as you like and reply them freq then watch as your twitter  acct/tweets grow. Use this method for getting traffic from digg.com and  likes also.

Moseso, tell your readers to subscribe to your blog  posts either via rss or email... You can promise to give them something  very good if they subscribe. Do not forget to give freebies and  giveaways. You know people like free stuffs! This way, people will visit  your blog and even advertise for you because of the giveaway they got.

GETTING TRAFFIC FROM SEARCH ENGINES (ORGANIC TRAFFIC):-

This is a type of traffic every blogger wants. Search Engines  especially Google respect traffic from sites with good authority...  Meaning your backlinks, Pagerank and Content! (Above all, Content is the  King as they say).

You need to write unique posts with unique titles so as to be seen and awarded traffic from google.

Not just that, be among the first posters! This goes to news and mag  blogs as your blog will rank well in search results if you are an early  poster of updates, google will see you as a serious blogger and will  take some blogs as fake and copycats. This is why your posts has to be  in a unique style of writing. Also make sure you have meta tags on your  blog. Google it to learn more. There's a doc here on how to do it also.  Having gotten this, you now need to submit your sitemap to google  webmasters and others. Right now, yahoo and bing has merged their  webmasters so submit your sitemap to google at www.google.com/webmasters then to bing at www.bing.com/webmasters. Your sitemap url is your feed url but if you are on blogger platform, you can use yoursite.com/feeds/posts/
default?orderby=updated as your sitemap url.

Sorry i can't continue because this tutorials was written on mobile but  I've dropped the main tips i use on my blogs. At least My 1 month and  12 days old blog is having over 10k total pageviews (80% from google)  and still working to get more.

Watch out for more of my traffic tips!

6 Tips to Choosing A Good Domain Name

What is a domain name and how does it work?
Domain name is a unique address that can be used on the Internet. It’s what you see in the address bar after the “www.” in your web browser and it’s what comes after the @ sign in an email address. Domain names consist of two parts. For example, in ”cashdove.com” the “.com” represents what is known as the top level domain (TLD) and “cashdove” represents the second level domain and is the actual name. The same name, which can be up to 63 characters long, can be used with different TLDs, such as .com, .org and .net. There are also country specific Top Level Domains, such as .ng for Nigerian and .co.uk for United Kingdom. When a domain name is used in a web address, ‘www’ is usually put in front of it to indicate that typing that name into your web browser will take you to a website. Domain name holders can set up a website with that address and also use it for email addresses. When you are a domain name holder you get to decide what is in front of the @-sign in the email address.

Steps in Choosing a powerful Domain Name
Choosing a domain name can be often is a frustrating and challenging task. It’s not uncommon to feel that all the good names are taken. Nevertheless, with a little creativity it is possible to choose a great domain name that will make you proud for years to come. And while there is no “one way” to choose a domain name, I offer some simple steps for those feeling overwhelmed by the task. Just followed the steps and you will choose a nice domain name.

Step 1 – Use your industry in your domain name
Let me preface this post by saying that some of the biggest and most successful businesses online did not follow this step. Names like Amazon, Flickr and Monster have been extremely successful. Though, the goal of this step is to help a business create a domain name that will stand on its own, not one that requires a large advertising budget to promote. The best practice is to name your industry in the domain you choose. If you sell knives, “knives” should be in your domain name. This not only helps customers identify immediately with your product, it will also help search engine optimization as users type that keyword into their browser. Also be sure not to stuff your name full of keywords. Example wesellkniveandspoon.com (oh my God) this looks spammy and is a huge turn-off to Internet users. Besides good link building will help you rank for additional keywords later in your SEO campaign.

Step 2 – Put in your geographic location
These are part of mistake most people made, when choosing a domain name, let’s do the maths together. A guy that sell domain name for whole Africa uses this type of domain name Nigeriandomain.com. usadomain.com isn’t this disgusting?? U sell for Africa u should use something like web4africa.com africadomain.com are you really getting me?? Am not asking you not to use geographical location in your domain but if you serve only one geographic location then you can go ahead and add it to your domain name, example nigeriatech.com lagosmeet.com or use it instead of your brand. This will not only make it more likely for the people within that location to click on your site, but it will also make it less likely for people you don’t serve to click on your site.

Step 3 – Make it easy to remember Stay away from plural words unless you can get both the singular and plural domain name.
If you only get the plural, you may lose traffic to someone who registered the singular form. Also, if the “perfect name” is already taken, it is tempting to add “my,” “the” or “your” to the beginning. This can cause a less professional look and you may end up losing some traffic to your competitor without these modifiers in their name. don’t use something only you can remember, because you won’t want to use a name that is easy to remember but a bitter juice to your customer, and don’t use your name as your domain name unless u are a celebrity to the whole world, and I don’t think you are.

Step 4 – Make it easy to say
Oh My GOD can u imagine a friend of mine register a domain name, I ask guy what is your domain name, then he reply with smile on his face, its fridaydonmicheal20101.com lets think the same way, if I was force to type the name that particular day, did u think I will the next day?? Because too long, un pronounceable, difficult to hear.. Stay away from names that use hyphens, numbers, slang and homonyms. This may help you get a name you might not have otherwise received, but it makes it difficult for people to remember your domain name and you will lose traffic. Besides, just imagine having to tell people what your domain name is. Names laced with hyphens or numbers get tiring. Just consider why mark change from thefacebook.com to Facebook.com because if believe there is a different... And why didn’t he use his name I mean markzukerberg.com……. I think you should know why now?

Step 5 – Keep it to a handful of words Obviously,
the shorter your name, the easier it is to remember. In fact, there is really no reason your name should be longer than five words. Sometimes you may need to introduce a second keyword, such as “usedcars” or “naijatalks,” to clarify what types of products you sell. In addition, you may need to be specific in your location, and add that to your domain name. In some cases, your domain name could end up three, four or even five words. But never go longer than you can pronounced with a breathe You may tempted to use an acronym. But acronyms don’t help you with keywords or do anything for branding. Basically, you would be ignoring steps two through four. Plus, they can often be difficult to remember.

Step 6 – Make sure you love it
This is your brand, your website. Imagine it on business cards and on billboards. Imagine telling people every day the name of your website. Be sure it makes you proud. Because I don’t think using a name like namebrandnothinghere.com will give u pride because I may have fallen asleep before you finish telling me.. If it doesn’t give you pride then keep on brainstorming and go through these steps again. Keep brainstorming keywords and creative branding words. Eventually, you will stumble upon something that excites you. If it excites you make sure I excite your customer….

7 Ways To Generate Traffic

There are many ways of generating targeted trafic to your blog. We are going to cover some of them here. So stay tuned.

As with other things, generating targeted trafic to your blog is one  of the building blocks of success of your blog. Without a decent trafic  to your blog, your posts will never be seen by those you are targeting.

If these people cannot see you blog, you cannot make money with your  blog . This is what we want to avoid here since the purpose of creating  our blog is to earn a decent amount of money from our blogs.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAFIC TO BLOGS

Traffic pulls reader, customers and subscribers alike to your blog  where they check out what you have for them on your blog. If you send  people that need the information on your blog to your blogs homepage,  you can earn their trust with what you have there and they will become  subscribers

When they become subscribers and loyal readers, you stand a better  chance of making more money through them as they will help you monetize  your blog through buying and contributing to it.

NOTE:  Targeted trafic is not to be confuced with ordinary trafic  as they are two different things. Whenever I mention trafic alone here, I  really mean targeted trafic.

Targeted trafic is the only means with which you can earn a decent income from your blog.

If your blog or website lacks traffic you will never be able to earn from your blog.

But if you drive traffic or have a decent trafic on your blog, you  will be able to make more money on you blog depending on the traffic  level

For this post, we will focus on 7 ways to generate trafic to your blog.

There are different ways of buiding targeted trafic to your blog.

We will cover 7 of them here:

1. Advertising with google adwords
2. Advertising on third party websites
3. Search engines organic trafic
4. Guest posting
5. Forum posting
6. Words of mouth.
7. Social media

There are many other ways of driving trafic to your blog, we will only cover those mentioned above.

So let's get in to the juicy part.

    ADVERTISING WITH GOOGLE ADWORDS

If you want to drive traffic to your blog the paid way, you may  consider google adwords. It enables you to advertise your blog on google  search engine results page ( SERPS ).

Google adwords is an advertising medium where you pay google for the clickthroughs to your blog.

You register with google adwords and you determine the criteria with which you want google to follow.

When you register with google adwords, google will give you options  like how much you want to pay, determine if you have any restriction  for your site placement, where you site is placed, how much you want to  pay for each click-through rate, what keywords you want to specify and  what search query will prompt your site to be displayed on google  results page.

Once all that has been determined, google will start placing your site  on the results page based on the keywords you specify. Your blog will  also be placed on relevant sites that match your niche just like it is  done in adsense.

If your site link is then clicked from the advertisement, you pay google. That is how it works.

This is achieved when you partner with google to place your blog on the results page. Remember this is paid advertising .

While adwords can results in a lot of clickthrough to your site and explode your traffic level, it can also be a money waster.

If you don't target the right keywords as with any other process of  niche markting. You pay google without reaping the benefits.

Also of note is that if you don't specify the right keywords for  your advertising, it will result in high bounce rate for your site and  there by risking your search enginre placement.

If you want to go with adwords, there are steps you can take to make sure your site don't get punish and your money wasted:

 • Make sure you research your keywords extensively, it should rhyme with the theme of your website.

You can read the keyword research tutorial at the begining of this  project . Once you get your    keywords right, don't  spend too much money advertising on google.
Let the money be at the bearest minimum so that you can increase your ROI

 • Don't with adwords if it doesn't work for you. If you are advertising  on google adwords programme, make sure you are  getting a reasonable  ROI to invest in other projects too.

 • Read as many giuide as you can on google adwords. There are  many  tutorials available on                                   the internet  that you can read to make sure you make maximum use of adwords for your  traffic generation

•... Oh!!! The post is still long, let me stop here so that you won't  get information overload. You can get more tutorial from google  themselves if you want to use this means for your trafic.

Note: I have not used google adwords so I don't have indepth guide on  how to be successfull with it! But if you follow the above guide and  others your will find on the net, you should do well with google adwords

Advertising on third party websites

You can do this either offline or online, depends on your choice and  criteria. Facebook is a good place to advertise your blog provided you  are willing or know the ropes of the trade.

Ask jide problogger, jide ogunsanya, don caprio, peter emu, they will tell you how they are doing  with this one.

Quick notice: this is paid not free advertising!!!. Okay!

If you have the money, you can go with this. Because it will explode your sites traffic if done properly.

Tip you can create a facebook page for your website on facebook , link  it with facebook advert placement and increase your backlinks to your  site.

I don't have much info on this but if you do it properly, it should  increase your blogs traffic and backlinks.

Another approach is to look for websites that accept advertising with  minimal pay to advertise your site on them. Make sure they relate to  your niche as it is also considered a vote for your site from the site.

If you know there are people offline that may be interested in what  you blog about, you can place your advert in offline newspaper and  magazine as well. This will increase your site's traffic potential.

Search engine organic traffic

If you want organic traffic to your site, you have a lot of work to  do. You may have noticed that probloggers sometimes prefer organic  traffic to their newly established site.

This  is because they have learnt, implemented and knows the rope   of the trade.. Not only are they equipped with the necessary materials  but they also have network of promoters and affiliates who will be glad  to promote their sites for  free.

What I'm trying to say here is that they can get to the first page of  google results page in a short period of time without spending a dime.

But for a beginner, this can only be achieved over long period of time and over a long drawn period of activity.

If you want to achieve this, you have to focus your effort on  generating traffic through accepted means like backlinking, guest  posting, useful comments on other blogs, useful post in forums, etc.

For you to get to the first page of google results, you need decent  amount of backlinks to your site, off-page and on-page optimisation.,  inbound linking and out bound linking and be able to generate link from  other sites to your blog.

You should consider registering with goarticles and ezinearticles.

Once you have register with them, start writing articles that relate to your site.

From the space give to you, ( author resource box ) you will have a  chance to link to your site, you will increase your site's traffic in  two ways with this:

First of all, If you write good articles articles and your readers  like it, they will click to your site to read more thereby increasing  your traffic.

Secondly, your author box will be pointing to your site, this will  give you more link juice thereby increasing  your site ranking.

You know what that means right?!!!, okay.

You can and should now  go out and register in forums for backlinks.  I recommend that you register with 5 relevant forums in your niche so  that your work will nor be too clunky or overwhelming.

Once you register, start looking for questions you can answer. When  you locate them, answer the questions fully so that the questioner will  be happy and will want to read more about what you have to say.

You can then link to your site and encourage the questioner to read more from your site.

Do overdo this though. It is considered spam if you are always  linking to your site in this way. You don't want to give the community  the impression that you are only answering questions to promote your  site. Shikena!!! * wink *

Tips: make sure you create a signature in the forum for your profile and link to your site from there.

With this, you will get a backlink to your site whenever you post or engage in discussions.

Another way of inceasing your search engine rank is doing off-page and on page seo on your site.

Include relevant keywords in your articles and in the right density.  Too much of keyword phrases in your site's copy will invite google  penalty.

Make sure you run farther even farthest from google penalty because  it is so bad it could ruin you site smoothness. Shhh!!! Sorry for my  oyinbooo! Lol

Another way to increase search engine ranking is guest blogging. Make  sure you submit useful and interesting content so that you can increase  your subscribers base and get more link juice for your site ranking.

Forum posting

I have mentioned this in the body before. I just want to expand on it here.

Register in forums that are in your niche. Create a user bio and signature that link back to your site.

Always try as much as possible to give to the community in the form  of answers to questions, helping members and familiarising with other  users.

Tips: when you create your signature, make sure you create something  compelling so that users will want to click to your sit when they see  your signature.

You should try posting everyday if you have the time and make sure to   post answers regularly, when you do this, your signature appear below  your post and automatically create  links to your site

This also make other users like you to place you in the position of  an expert. This could help establish you as an authority in your field,  thereby increasing your blog readership and traffic.

If you don't get this, then look at this group, the most popular  among us here, how are they known? Do they just come here and post links  to there site and say " hey look, I have a new post on my site. I want  you to go read it now. " Nope. ( Though, this can make them popular as a  group spammer here, l o l !!! But not in a good way, anyways. )

Rather, they are known through posting useful stuff daily without  mentioning there site which naturally increase authority as a blogger,  with decent backlink and traffic to their respective sites.

 Hope you can relate!!!

  Guest posting

This is also an expansion on what I have mentioned before

If you know how to guest post, your site will see more  readers and  subscribers will increase. Just make sure when you are submitting your  best and well written post the author of the respective blog you want to  submit to.
Wanted to cover this in more details but I don't want this post to be  too long since our boss " oga jide too is writing on it" * looking here  and there, trying to relieve hands of pain because of typing*

"Its not easy to be typing long post on phone ooo... Hahaaa.".  * winks *

  Word of mouth

This can explode the traffic to your blog. Before you can achieve this you must work hard oooo. Have to stress that though.

Word of mouth in niche marketing means that your readers are sharing  your post through their social network profile, telling their friends  about your post and your website. It happens both offline and online.

For your to achieve this, you have to build credibility and trust with  your reader through what you offer on your site. Content, services,  give-aways etc.  If you can build your trust in              your readers mind, they will generally spread the word about your site  or blog.

This will make your blog posts go viral and when it does, you are rest assured that your traffic will increase trust me.

   Social media

If you want traffic for your blog, then you must consider social media.  If you can command attention on the social media world, then you stand a  chance of driving big sized targeted traffic to your blog.

SEO Steps to take before Publishing Posts (for WordPress Users)

Whether you like it or not, you have to keep involved in SEO (search engine optimization) if you want to succeed online. This is for obvious reasons that people go to search engines like Google to look for information. If they find your website while they do ther search, it means you have properly optimized your website for search engines. The truth is, you need to keep optimizing so that your site can be found most times when people search for information related to your blog.

Here are the steps to take so as to optimize all your posts before publishing

1. Keyword Research
To figure this out, I do two things:

Google’s Keyword Tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) – I look up the words I believe people would search for to find the post I plan on writing.

Google – I google those keywords to see the actual competition.

2. Fine-Tuning the Headline

Here’s my formula for crafting headlines for list posts:

[#][keyword][ curiosity-capturing phrase]

3. Post Slug in wordpress

Change your post slug to your primary keyword.

4. Images

Save your images as [keyword-phrase.png] before you upload them to your site.
Add alt text as [keyword phrase].
Add title tag as [keyword phrase].

For the images within the content, however, use other similar and relevant keywords.

5. Relevant Videos

Google understands that adding a video to a blog post makes it a more complete resource. If they haven’t already boosting blog posts with videos, they will eventually.

If blogging is a big portion of your business, start making videos for your posts, upload them to your channel, and embed them in the actual post.

If you’re still dabbling in blogging, consider embedding other peoples’ videos in your posts.

6. Subheads

Similar to images, subheadings break up the content and make blog posts easier to read. They also have big-time SEO benefits.

< h2 >Subhead Level 1< /h2 >
< h3 >Subhead Level 2< /h3 >
< h4 >Subhead Level 3< /h3 >

Note: The headline/title tag should be automatically wrapped in <h1></h1>.

Stop simply bolding and italicizing your subheads.

7. Interlinking

Before you publish a new post, read through it and try to find two-three opportunities to naturally link back to relevant posts on your blog.

8. External Linking

Linking to other sites is also a good way to build relationships with other bloggers.

9. Meta Data description

In writing your meta description, you need to keep three things in mind:

It needs to be fewer than 155 characters so Google will display the whole description.
It needs to include your keywords because Google bolds them in search results.
It should be an actual sentence from the post because people look for that sentence once they arrive.
I always summarize the post with the keywords in the last sentence of the introduction and use that as the meta description.

  10. Call to Action

Here are a few popular calls to action:

Comment – You can encourage people to comment by ending the post with a thought-provoking question or simply asking them to let you know what they think.

Share – “If you liked this post, tweet it out.”

Implement – I believe the best result of any blog post is for a reader to take your advice and implement it.

I hope this helps?
